Breast reduction surgery is for women with oversized
very large pendulous breasts that cause a variety of
medical problems such as back and shoulder pain, skin
irritation, and possibly breathing problems. There is
often a feeling of embarrassment for the women and a
decrease in their effectiveness to perform daily activities
of living. The ideal candidate for this procedure is
a woman who is close to her normal weight for her height
and stature and who has medically ruled out any other
contributing factors to her discomfort caused by her
large breasts. The surgery procedure removes fat, glandular
tissue, and skin from the breasts, making them smaller,
lighter, and firmer.
Delicate surgery can also reduce the size of the
areola, the darker skin surrounding the nipple. The goal
is to give the woman smaller, better-shaped breasts and
nipples that are in proportion with the rest of her body.
Patients who have had this surgery are extremely happy.
They no longer have the pain and discomforts of their
former large breasts and they feel more attractive and
engage in more activities.
This surgery is not just for more mature woman. Many
of our patients are younger women (18 and older) who
have experienced many painful discomforts due to overly
large breasts and have had to give up participation in
some sports they love that require running or jumping.
The quality of life is significantly improved following
Breast Reduction surgery.
